Owner/Recording
Engineer, Jeff
Ward, & Co-Owner, Tammy Bennett, opened up SUEDE
SHOE STUDIOS together in a partnership that spawned
from their love of local music.
Jeff
Ward began his musical career at the age of 11 playing
the trombone. That instrument earned him a scholarship
for college. Guitar and bass entered Jeff's world at
age 15. The bass guitar soon became his favorite instrument,
and music his favorite artform. In the 90's he played
in several Orlando bands and also ran sound at local
clubs. Suede Shoe Studios is the next step in his musical
dream. Jeff say's, "I wanted to build a studio that
I would be excited to record in. A studio made by a
musician for musicians. I've always wanted to go into
a studio where the engineer understood where my music
was coming from and had no bias. Beautiful sound from
professional gear in a low pressure environment is a
must! No bargain basement recordings. This is high quality
production with fair and affordable pricing for ALL
musicians.
Tammy
Bennett is best known for her love of local music from
the old Sunburst Pub of the early 80's, and Club Nowhere
in the late 8o's. She provided a venue for local original
music when local original music was not hip. Little
known fact is that she is also the daughter of the late
Billy Bennett who was the drummer and sax player for
SAM the SHAM & the PHAROAHS, whose "Lil' Red Riding
Hood" and "Wooly Bully" were huge hits back in the 60's
when she was a little girl. Tammy says, "Music has been
running through my veins ever since I was a fetus. My
father was a good ol' rock-n-roll drummer, and my mother
was a dancer on a popular TV show in the 50's & 60's.
I used to jump around on my bed at night and pretend
I was a rock star. I sang in a few bands in high school,
but nothing ever panned out. When I got into the Sunburst
nack in the 80's I re-established my love affair with
music and tried to get as many musical acts of various
genres into the club. From there I started booking National
acts like GREEN DAY, and NUCLEAR ASSAULT, and put local
bands in front of them to help ticket sales and help
the local bands get exposure. When my dad died late
last year, I found out that he had been working nights
at a music store in order to make money for a recording
studio in his house, so I decided to live out his dream
for him . . . and SUEDE SHOE STUDIOS was born!"
